Here are some things to consider before ordering:
- Pick an image for your art piece or sign. Our software works best with .svg file types or .dxf files types. This is the preferred option for logos or business signs. Another option is to pick a black clip art silhouette image which works for art images, art scenes or welcome signs.
- Determine if any customization is needed such as adding your name or address to your piece. If the piece isn’t already in a svg/dxf file type, what font do you prefer for your text/numbering. If the letters or numbers are to me cut out of the metal then stencil font will ensure your letters don’t drop out.
- Consider the where the sign will be hung at (outside or inside). We generally cut all pieces out of 12-gauge metal. We can offer thinner metal options such as 14-gauge or 16-gauge metal depending on the application. Thicker metal may be a better option for outdoor signs that endure wind and weather.
- Will the sign need holes for mounting? If so, do you have a preference as to where they are placed?
- Consider which finish you would like for your piece. We offer bare metal, powder coating or a rustic finish with clear coating. All three finishes work well indoors and outside in covered areas. Powder coating products will be the most durable outside when exposed to weather. If the sign is hung on your house outside and exposed to weather, bare metal may rust and stain siding. In this case, powder coating may be a better option. We have samples of all of our finishes in our shop.
- What size do you want your sign to be? Our CAD software will auto size the height or width of your piece based on the other dimension to keep your piece in proportion. In other words, if you send an image and want it to be 12” wide, then the height will be auto sized based on the 12” width and vice versa if you choose 12” height.
- Lastly, do you require the piece to be shipped? We will require your shipping address to calculate the shipping cost. We generally use USPS Priority or Ground Mail for shipping.
